The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, approved a draft for the construction of the 90 MW grid-connected Photovoltaic Solar Power Plant, and 25 MW battery storage system in Cabinda worth €141.7 million.
João Baptista Borges says, the approval for the construction of the Cabinda Solar Power Plant is justified by the need for the investment to enhance the capacity to produce, transport and distribute electricity.
For the contracting, the Minister of Energy and Water, João Baptista Borges, was given the faculty to sub-delegate the celebration of the contract with the company Elsewedy Electrific for the transmission and distribution of energy.
The Minister of Finance, Vera Daves, is authorized to start the negotiation of the loan and to sign all the necessary documentation and contracts for the financing of the project and its inscription in the Public Investment Program (PIP) and the 2022 General State Budget (OGE).
This plant will join the other solar projects that have been announced and that already exceed 1 GW of future installed capacity, João Baptista Borges added.
