Manchester United saw their hopes of Premier League glory dented by Southampton on Sunday afternoon. Fred’s own goal cost the Red Devils in the first half, despite Mason Greenwood going on to equalise. So Express Sport will now take a look at three players who need dropping in the wake of the match.
United suffered a blow before the match against Southampton, with Scott McTominay left on the bench because of an injury.
Solskjaer said beforehand: “Of course we want to keep continuity but Scott is struggling with an injury, hopefully we can get half an hour out of him if needed.”
And United clearly missed the Scotland international.
Nemanja Matic played throughout the contest at a pedestrian pace, with the years clearly catching up with the Serbia international.
The intelligent Donny van de Beek could have potentially been a better option, especially given the fact Fred was already on the pitch to act as an anchorman.

This was a big day for Anthony Martial.
Given the job of leading the line, the France international failed to take it on a poor afternoon.
The 25-year-old needs to bounce back from this latest drab showing, with talk of a potential move to Inter Milan still ongoing.
When compared to Greenwood, he simply wasn’t good enough.
And the Red Devils will be hoping Martial comes good, with the jury still very much out six years on from his arrival.
But what about the positives?
It wasn’t all bad for United on a day where they equalled the Premier League’s longest unbeaten run away from home.
Greenwood was again excellent, with the England international scoring for the second game in a row.
Paul Pogba again registered an assist, meaning he’s now got five from just two appearances in the top flight.
David De Gea made a sublime save to deny Stuart Armstrong to show he’s still got what it takes to be their No 1.
And it was good to give Jadon Sancho more minutes as he aims to settle into life at Old Trafford.
