“Once he gets in his rhythm and gets in control that’s it, I knew he was going to win the gold. I was confident all the way through.”
Yafai hailed his brothers as his greatest role models, saying: “If it was not for Kal and Gamal I wouldn’t have started boxing.
“They’ve been there for me and if it wasn’t for them I wouldn’t be here. They’re my biggest inspirations in boxing.”
Yafai said he plans to “chill out with friends and family” before deciding on “the next chapter” – and Kal ended the interview by suggesting the perfect way to unwind.
“I’ve got your PS5 is ready when you get back,” he joked, to which Yafai replied: “I can’t wait to have a go on it.”
Meanwhile, Yafai’s victory came on team-mate Frazer Clarke’s birthday – and the super-heavyweight was overjoyed by his pal’s triumph..
